Cucina Zapata's Mexican Veggie Burger

One of the nice things I like about Philly is the abundance of awesome food trucks in and around the  Penn/Drexel area. One of these food trucks is the Mexican-Thai fusion truck - Cucina Zapata. Admittedly the veggie burger is probably not the best selling item on the menu, but it has quickly become my early favorite here in Philly.

The patty itself is nice and a little moist and I do believe has some peas. It goes incredibly well with the rest of the burger. Shreds of lettuce add a nice crunchy texture, and the avocado slices add excellent flavor (what can I say, I'm a sucker for stuff with avocados). The bun is delicious and buttery. The spicy sauce brings it all together in a sloppy, drippy and delicious burger. I usually take a bunch of extra napkins and enjoy the saucy deliciousness that this burger is. It really deserves a picture and I'll be sure to update this post with one soon.

Best veggie burgers in Boston

Over the last couple of years I have sampled a few veggie burgers, and here are the ones I like in no particular order.

Cambridge Burger at Boston Beer Works
This was one of my early favorites and I am actually surprised that I remember it. The burger itself is good i.e. not dry and crumbly, but what makes this excellent is the cheese and mushrooms that it comes with. I certainly enjoyed this one

Boom Burger at UBurger
This is definitely my go-to burger at UBurger, with the veggie burger option. The combination of the guac and the jalepenos makes this very delicious.

Tempeh Reuben at Red Lentil
This one is quite big and has a lot of flavor and its more of a sandwich than a burger. The bread is very nice and the sauce complements the tempeh well.

Thats all I can remember now... I'll add more later

Introductory post

When I first moved to Boston 2 years ago, I embarked on a quest to find the best veggie burger that the city could offer. Admittedly this wasnt a scientific endeavor, but more of a I am going to try the veggie burger in every place I'd go to when I was out with friends. One of my friends (Nate) had this idea of me actually writing down my experiences so the 5 or so people who would actually care could read about it etc. Turns out I was one of those 5 people. Because I promptly forgot I had sampled a burger at a place and didnt like it and a few months later very enthusiastically recommended it to a friend - only for the food to come in and my friend describing it and me sheepishly grinning and admitting that 'now I remember - I didnt really like this burger' (sorry Shyam). I have since moved to Philadelphia, but have sort of learnt from the experience (read: stopped being lazy) and hence this blog.

While thinking about it, I am also expanding the basic tenets of the search to include any veggie sandwich or any spectacular meal or dish I tried out, and also to include non food related interesting experiences on occasion. I am also not restricting this to any location.
